Standing Side Splits - Tips
Ever wonder how far you should be taking the carriage out during standing side splits?
We get it – it’s tempting to glance around and follow the person who seems like a pro, but remember, this practice is all about YOU. Your body, your pace. 🤍
Here’s how to find your perfect range:
〰 Check in with your body – Scan from your feet to your crown as you move. Are your feet staying parallel? Knees soft and pointed forward? Pelvis neutral, ribs and shoulders stacked over hips, collarbone wide, head and neck centered? No more time to scan the room right?
〰 Engage with intention – Use your Pilates breath and active muscle engagement to guide your movements. Try not to let momentum take over here, challenge yourself by firing your deeper muscles to control each push and pull. Slow, steady, controlled movements = true strength.
〰 Focus on connection – Instead of focusing on how wide you go, shift your perspective to how deeply you can connect with your body. Stability and alignment are key. Your range is unique – honor it and allow it to grow 🤍
Trust your body, move mindfully, and let your practice unfold.
